The house is located on the edge of the Ardèche...
...overlooking the Rhône valley, just south of Rochemaure village. 7km to the east, across the Rhône river and into the Drôme-Provençale, is Montélimar, a bigger town famous for its production of the confectionary nougat. The Drôme itself is famous for its fruit orchards, lavender fields and olive tree plantations. Head west to go deeper into the dramatic landscape of the Ardêche region, with its gorges and clifftop villages. Follow the Rhône south into Provence to find Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and the best of the Côtes du Rhône wine producers.
The house is easily accessible from the A7 'autoroute du soleil' or by train as the TGV goes to Montélimar.
Rochemaure itself is a small village dating from medieval times with narrow cobbled lanes, archways and steep alleys. Yet it has the convenience of a post office, pharmacy, general grocer, butcher, small family restaurants and - best of all in our opinion - two fabulous artisan boulangeries.
